About Nay
His Life
Nay is a trans queer man who grew up between London, Geneva and New York City, where he started acting at the age of 11. He then developed his playwriting practice as a teenager, founding the group NYT Playwriting, whilst running his theatre company at the time Naked Bear Theatre (he had time on his hands as a homeschooler). At 18, he started training at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, obtaining a first class degree on BA Acting (Collaborative and Devised Theatre), within which time he also discovered what it means to be part of the trans and queer world in London. He now remains London-based as a working actor, writer and youth facilitator.
His Work
As an artist Nay seeks to bring audiences of opposing views and opinions together. Nay has performed for BBC Radio, Netflix, at the Duke of York’s Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre (BAC) and The Pleasance Theatre where his comedy was referred to as ‘a clear nod to Monty Python’ (and because that wasn’t intentional he takes it as a massive compliment.) His play ‘The Definition’ was produced at BAC, developed with Firebird Theatre NYC and shortlisted for the Leodis Prize 2026 and the Alpine Fellowship Theatre Prize 2026. He’s produced within the London Drag scene, in fringe theatre venues and with the NYT, having graduated BAC Next Gen Producers 2025. He’s a facilitator at theatres including Lyric Hammersmith, ATTIC, WAC Arts, Company Three, Tramshed and more. He approaches his consultancy through both personal experience as a trans man and professional expertise within the industry.
Why Start Speaking of Gender?
TV, film and theatre hold the power to change social norms through visibility. By producing rich (and funny!) trans characters, stories, or casting trans actors in non-trans stories, this industry can make monumental change for trans people and their rights, and for all people who may feel restricted by gendered boundaries. Creatives often want to include trans stories and actors but do not always have the knowledge to proceed with confidence. Nay is here to bridge that knowledge gap, because knowledge equals brilliant, rich and specific creative decisions.
